The FBI responds to an inquiry from Senator Strom Thurmond about the "Brainwashing" book. The response notes that the authenticity of the book is doubtful; that Hubbard's wife described him as "hopelessly insane" in her divorce proceedings; and that the "Brainwashing" book "is apparently being circulated by persons of highly questionable background and, in some instances, sanity."
