A $467-million class action filed by a member of the Church of Scientology against a consumer protection group and four of its employees has been thrown out by Quebec Superior Court Justice Jean Marquis.

Quebec actress Claudine Chatel alleged that the Association cooperative d'economie familiale encouraged hatred and ridicule of Scientologists.

But the judge ruled that for such an action to proceed, the defendants must have attacked the personal beliefs of a specific individual.
